Find out more about
Sleep endoscopy, or drug-induced sleep endoscopy (DISE), is a powerful tool for studying the dynamic airway in a sleeping patient with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Using the knowledge gained from the testing our team can tailor the treatment options to meet the patient's specific condition, using both surgical and non surgical therapy or the combination of those two.
- With this approach the success rate of the overall treatment of the sleep disorders is maximized.
- Sleep endoscopy is done in the clinic for few hours after which patient is free to go home.
THE PROCESS OF DIAGNOSING
Before we can perform the sleep endoscopy, you will fill out a standardized form which will give an anesthesiologist more information about your health condition.
On the day of the test you will be admitted to our clinic where a team consisting of anesthesiologist and otorhinolaryngologist will be performing sleep endoscopy. The whole procedure takes around 2h, with all the preparation and time you need to fully recover and be ready to go home.
The sleep endoscopy itself is extremely well tolerated procedure. You will be given a drug that will make you go to sleep, no intubation tubes will be used. Equipment will be used to monitor your vital signs (heart rate, oxygenation, etc.) and specialized flexible endoscopes used to capture in real time degree of collapse of your upper airway while you sleep.
We use system of classification that is used to objectives findings of airway obstruction in OSA patients, evaluating level and degree of obstruction.
Sleep endoscopy is generally well tolerated and patient go home in few hours.
They will take care of you
