Find out more about
The first visit includes a comprehensive list of questions
about your current state of health, past illnesses, family history, and other
symptoms related to the main complaint. These questions are important for the
holistic approach toward your well-being and it takes everything into account
so it can provide a uniquely designed treatment protocol that is perfectly
tailored for you, and your chief complaint. Your current symptoms may not seem
related to past health issues, but our bodies are complex landscapes and
everything that happens to them leaves its mark.
After reviewing your report, we will discuss your condition, and examine your pulse followed with a palpatory diagnosis of your abdomen and head. The acupuncture points that will be chosen will vary for each treatment depending on your current symptoms. Many people find acupuncture treatment deeply relaxing, and it is not uncommon for patients to fall asleep during this time. The duration of the treatment is different for each person usually between 30 and 60 minutes, while the treatment plan is tailored individually during the course of 30 days.
How it works - acupuncture treats the root of the symptoms.
- By stimulating a small electrical sensation to the body it promotes healing, restores homeostasis and balance,
- Acupuncture releases the blockages, and therefore stimulates the organ function and promotes health;
- Promoting blood circulation, the body improves the overall metabolism and functioning;
- Balancing body chemistry via nervous system;
- Reducing inflammatory markers, or proteins, in the body;
- Acupuncture acts like a natural analgesic by interrupting the pain signaling.
As the oldest
continuous medical art, Acupuncture and with Traditional Chinese and Japanese
Medicine along with other Eastern modalities of medicine have become a very
powerful, flexible and holistic healing system that is exquisitely tuned to
every person’s unique
energetic, physical, mental and emotional experience. Acupuncture treatments are tailored for every person
individually and based on their needs, tracing and addressing the root cause of
migraines, and therefore, relieving you of the pain.
In many cases acupuncture is successful in relieving the frequency and severity of migraines and associated symptoms such as nausea and vomiting and fatigue. Acupuncture is very effective for injury-induced headaches, including post-concussion syndrome. Most patients are able to significantly reduce their need for powerful pain medications. Some long-suffering patients report complete relief.
Every patient is unique and each headache presentation is different. We offer a comprehensive evaluation, history and examination to each patient to determine which treatment option is best suited for their needs.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Acupuncture is a safe and effective healing technique that finds its origin in Eastern medicine dating back even to as far as 4,000 years ago. The acupuncture treatment modality has shown to improve the body’s functions and promotes the natural self-healing process by stimulating specific anatomical sites, also known as acupuncture points.
The most common method used in order to stimulate the acupuncture points is the insertion of fine and sterile needles into the skin. But there are also non-needling techniques that can be used to stimulate the effect of these acupuncture points, such as hand pressure, heat, or electrical stimulation that may further enhance the powerful effects of the acupuncture treatment. Other techniques of stimulation also include manual massage, moxibustion or heat therapy, cupping, and the application of topical herbal medicines and ointments.
By stimulating these areas of acupuncture points actually creates a response in the body’s own healing process, moving red and white blood cells to a hurting area, changing the central and peripheral nerve response, and regulating neurotransmitters. When inserted, the acupuncture needle effectively passes through several bodily systems which include skin, fascia, adipose, muscle, blood and nerve tissues.
Over the years, many studies have proven that acupuncture is an effective treatment for relief of all headaches, including migraines, cluster, tension and sinus headaches. Pain is often, but not always, triggered by tension in the body combined with inflammation.
The advantage of acupuncture is that is helps reduce the body’s inflammatory response, relieving the pressure that causes headaches. Additionally, acupuncture is proven to relax the muscles, easing tensions and restoring the flow of energy through your body.
